Notes on the Distribution of the Genus Oreochromis in the East Mediterranean Region of Turkey

Tilapias are freshwater species which the common name of three genera cichlids, Oreochromis, Sarotherodon, and Coptodon . Many belonged to these have been used for aquaculture products. Although their main native distribution areas tropical subtropical regions, they spread other due high invasive characteristics. This study was aimed investigate genus Oreochromis in East Mediterranean Region Turkey. The conducted at 18 stations located Adana Mersin from 2014 2017. introduction systems mainly recorded weed control, transfers fisherman, escape facilities. However, Turkey effects on aquatic ecosystems unknown. results showed that were easily adapted different conditions such as various flow rates, salinity, temperature.
